Female Empowerment
Female Empowerment
Whilst walking the corridors as a chaplain at Red Cross Children’s War Memorial Hospital the need for sanitary pads for the mums at the bedside of the patients’ became apparent. At the same time whilst conducting Life Skills Programs within the school environment we came to learn that girls were staying out of school due to not having access to pads and more alarmingly the issues they faced around menstrual health because of it.
WOHSA then set out to tackle these issues in one comprehensive 4 tiered sanitary education program. Our program encompasses female employment through local manufacturing of washable sanitary towels, the distribution of sanitary towel packs to schools, the delivery of sanitary education workshops on menstrual health thus reducing the issue of period poverty, school absenteeism, teenage pregnancy & abortion and interrupted education for the schoolgirl child.
Our Sanitary Education Program is part of our CSR offering and proves to be a comprehensive way for companies to support women through employment, facilitate education and benefit the on a measurable scale. Our eco-washable sanitary towels are available for purchase and can be sponsored as well.
